About Me

Maria Wilman - Psychologist

I am Maria Wilman, an experienced clinical psychologist, member of the British Psychological Society since 1992. I work privately providing face to face and

online psychological assessments and therapy in West London and Bilbao.

​

I did my MSc and Post MSc in Counselling Psychology at City University, in London.

 My clinical work has been based as part of the British National Health Service (NHS) both working in adult community mental health teams as well as part of the Brief Intervention Services based at multiple GP practices. I have also had my private practice and participated as an occasional lecturer at Guildhall University on the topic of depression.

I specialise in seeing adults presenting with a variety of problems, such as, anxiety, trauma, depression and relationship difficulties.

​

I am trained in a range of evidence-based, approved psychological treatments including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT). I have a particular interest in Systemic Therapy which focuses on improving the relationships between family members and the dynamics we are involved when relating to others. 

​

I have always been curious about the emotions and behaviours that move us all.  As a clinical psychologist, this curiosity turned into understanding and constant discovery and then evolved into a practice that helped me apply it both to myself and to others.

​

It is my vocation to listen both inwards as well as outwards with respect and compassion in order to be able to live a fuller life.

My commitment is to listen to your unique needs, see you for who you are and work jointly through your challenges and difficulties.
